I first began this piece in Winter 2007 (aged 38) & called it 'Threads of Belonging'. At the time it felt like a reminder to trust the process in following the unknowable threads of this liminal stage of my midlife - I couldn't see the way forward, nor could I turn back. I wanted to believe in the possibility of transformation with all of my heart, reflected by the alchemical process of the butterfly.

Now 14 years later, the piece has renewed meaning as my life enters another stage. Worn & messy in places but willingly entering into the unknown to make real, to enliven through the process. To love & allow one's self to be-loved into being.  Transformation deeply painful at times, yet so essential, so life can thrive.
